One of approximately 100 copies in the gift binding. Presentation inscription from the author: "Edward Atkinson, Esq. from R.W. Emerson, May 1867." Atkinson was an industrialist, insurance executive, and advocate for various social. Light soiling to cloth, wear to head of spine, else very good.
