Philadelphia: J.B. Lippincott. Fair in Fair dust jacket. 1959. Fifth Printing. Hardcover. 192 p. 20.5 cm. Ex-library copy with all the usual marks. Because the jacket is glued to the book, I am unable to see the book in its entirety. The edges are heavily worn with boards showing through. The binding is split, but holding, between title page and endpaper and last two pages. The inside pages are generally clean with occasional soil, but no sign of stamps to pages except copyright page. One or two dog eared corners and one closed edge tear. The dustjacket remains glued to the endpapers, and has some edge and corner wear, a few small edge tears. There are markered initials written on the front panel and a label on the spine, which is also somewhat faded. One of a series of titles featuring twelve year old Janie Marshall, who lives on the seacoast of Maine. In this story Janie is called out at school for not wearing shoes, but is too ashamed to admit her family cannot afford them. Illustrated with pen and ink drawings. Ex-Library .
