He moved to Missouri and studied at the Kansas City Art Institute, where he was then the youngest student ever to be enrolled. At age seventeen, he went to New York for further study at The National Academy and Art Students League, and then to Europe for further art study (1926), and then back to New York. In 1929 Lantz traveled to New Mexico where until 1939, he worked with artist Randall Davey. Lantz moved to New Mexico permanently in 1974.his work with illustrating children's books in addition to his traditional art is quite prolific.about the book.
