Burgundy cloth hardcover with pasted down lady illustration, gilt decorated border illustration, and gilt title on the front cover. Gilt title on the spine. Illustrated by C. D. Williams.
Lengthy gift inscription by the author to his cousin Helen Ransom - "To Helen - My sister cousin - in the hope that my hero and heroine may please her. George Cary Eggleson Feb 9, 1903." Helen Ransom later inscribed this book - "Having by mistake, ? authograph copies of this book it gives me great pleasure to give this copy to my friend Miss Bierman (sp.?). Helen C Ransom.
