Jacket has slight yellowing, 3" closed tear to bottom front of jacket, board edges have slight chipping, binding tight, internally clean. Folio measures 48"x34", containing 31 beautiful full color, one sided plates. In 1948 Amilcare Pizzi, Milan had published with Unesco's competition a portfolio containing 28 color reproductions of the frescoes of Masaccio which are found in the Brancacci chapel of the church Santa Maria del Carmine a Florence with an introduction by professor Mario Salmi. This edition was exhausted less than a year after its publication, and to meet numerous requests from professors, requests from professors, students, libraries and the general public in various parts of the world, the present album has been prepared. Designed in a broader way to include certain details of the fresco of the Church of Santa Maria Novella as well as additional details of the Brancacci Chapel, it is published by the New York Graphic Society in agreement with Unesco. Reproductions, printing and binding were carried out by Amilcare Pizzi, S.p.A., Milan, Italy.
