Chronologically arranged this book contains abstracts of marriage and death notices reported in the South Western Baptist from 1850 through 1862. The notices were submitted from all over the South as well as Alabama where the newspaper was printed. The marriage notices include: the couple's names; date and location of their marriage; place of residence; the names of their parents; and often the names of presiding clergymen. Death notices include: place, date, and cause of the death, family names (including maiden names), date and place of birth and baptism, place of residence, church membership, and military account. .
