About This Item

London: Cassell and Co., 1923. First Edition. Hardcover (with Dust Jacket). Very Good. 8vo (319 pages, over 30 illustrations in line and half-tone.). Soldier, adventurer, diplomat, Sykes served in the Boer War and was a figure in World War I-era Middle East politics before his early death in 1919. This is a second impression of the First English edition in the exceptionally rare dust jacket, which is complete but has a circular stain on the front face and extensive internal tape reinforcement. The book is beautiful; clean and unfaded, with bright cloth and gilt. The contents are fine, with minor foxing to the fore-edges only. Most unique thus.
