Notably, Willat developed the first cold permanent wave equipment, in its time a revolutionary advancement in hair care. Inscribed and signed by Willat on half title page thus: "With best wishes | Sincerely, | A. F. Millat." Signature unconditionally guaranteed to pass any COA examination. In 1952 Millat famously boasted he would pay $1,000 to any person whose hair he couldn't curl. He was never proven wrong. Also signed on back panel by the notorious Herbert M. Shelton (see attached image), an American naturopath, alternative medicine advocate, author, pacifist, vegetarian, and supporter of rawism and fasting. 197The Complete Opera Book is a very interesting and comprehensive book of operas illustrated with sixty three portraits, besides many lyrical and musical notation excerpts. There are very minor indications of wear in this book and no markings. The binding is very slightly discolored from exposure compared to the rest of the cover. I have been unable to find another copy of the 1937 version.

Gray boards show minor shelf and handling wear; there is a crease on the page before the Contents. Else clean and bright. This is, overall, a stunning volume, colorful and clean, gray boards and colorful pastedown are clean, tight binding. Slipcase shows significant shelf and handling wear with scuffing, fading, three tears in the binding at the spine of the slipcase, and edge and corner wear.
