Unbumped spine heads and tails, and with sharp corners. Top inch of spine of Vol. I appears mildly sunned; trivial. Immensely clean bindings. Text blocks firmly bound in. All pages are of heavy-duty, semi-glossy paper. Volume I has 554 numbered pages. With 28 full color plates and 1,334 B&W illustrations reproduced in small format. Also with several duotone photographs of the artist and her associates. Volume II has 664 numbered pages. With 16 full color plates. Rare in any condition, with Vol. II being exceptionally hard to find. Weight of 17 lbs. This two-volume book is a catalogue raisonné of the works of Marie Laurencin [1883 - 1956]. She was a French painter and printmaker. She became an important figure in the Parisian avant-garde as a member of the Cubists associated with the Section d'Or. Her work lies outside the bounds of Cubist norms in her pursuit of a specifically feminine aesthetic by her use of pastel colors and curvilinear forms. She became romantically involved with the poet Guillaume Apollinaire, and has often been identified as his muse.
