Half bound in green over green pebbled boards, 5 raised bands to spine, with gilt titling. Italian text. Engravings by D. Chiossone, F. Livy, S. Martelli, R. Bettazzi, E. Zannoni, G. Bonaini, P. Nocchi, A. Perfetti and E. Damele, mainly from paintings by Fra Angelico, with the text detailing his Origin, studies, religious profession - His first works in Foligno and Cortona - His return to Fiesole - Fra Giovanni and Fra Benedetto from Mugello go to Florence. Paintings by Angelico for the church and convent of S. Marco - His other paintings for the churches of Florence - Angelico is invited to paint in Rome by Pope Eugene IV and Nicholas V - His paintings in the Vatican and the Minerva of Rome; and in Orvieto. Boards and spine fairly well worn, with a split to the head of spine, crease to half title page, otherwise contents fine, unmarked, save for some isolated soiling. [783]. First Edition. Half Bound.
