From the library of American collector Owen Franklin Aldis (bookplates designed by Ralph Seymour Fletcher tipped in the front endpapers, Aldis heraldic bookplates on the back endpapers ). The fifth and the best edition. The first edition of Jacques-Charles Brunet's Manual was published in 1810. "The three-volume work expanded to its fifth edition, comprising six volumes (1860-1865), still in use today; three supplementary volumes by Pierre Deschamps and Gustave Brunet were published from 1870 to 1880. Brunet's annotations about the scholarly and commercial value of the books are often still unsurpassed." (Breslauer & Folter 118).
