It is Signed Jerry and Elieen (Spinelli). Inscribed to M. Jerry Weiss of Montclair, an internationally recognized expert in the field of children's and adolescent literature and longtime university professor. He wrote, co-authored and edited dozens of anthologies of humor and drama, intended for the classroom. These included "Guidance Through Drama," "Tales out of School," "The American Way of Laughing" and "The Signet Book of American Essays." Jerry Spinelli dedicated his Newbery honor book WRINGER to M. Synopsis

Maniac Magee is a young adult fiction novel written by American author Jerry Spinelli and published in 1990. Exploring themes of racism and homelessness, it follows the story of an orphaned boy looking for a home in the fictional Pennsylvania town of Two Mills. He becomes a local legend for feats of athleticism and fearlessness, and his ignorance of sharp racial boundaries in the town.
