Robert M. McBride & Company. Good. 1931. First Edition. Hardcover. Hardcover. No dust jacket, Clothbound mustard color with red lettering. Exterior all very grungy with wear especially top corners rubbed through, wear to top and bottom edges of spine. Contents very clean, nice with no writing or notations. Written by a Houston-based newspaper writer (white) and based on a newspaper column that many Southerners thought was written by an African-American cook. Featured are "Mammy Lou says" quotes with Southern recipes. Recipe titles include some limited attribution to actual women. The recipes are written in paragraphs versus a listing of the ingredients. Very scarce and important cook book. ; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 307 pages .
