Stated first edition with a sequence of numbers appearing on the copyright page with the "1" present and no additional printings indicated. A tight, clean, sound copy in textured blue paper covered boards with silver lettering and a graphic on the spine with only very minor overall shelf wear. The dust jacket shows very minor overall shelf wear with some very light rubbing overall plus there is some very, very light edge wear along the top and bottom spine edges. The first novel by a noted American poet. A novel in which an influential poetry professor insists that the Yucca Mountain Project include an epic poem. In pursuit of this the reader is brought into an extended circle of minor poets who are continually upstaging, back-stabbing, and falling in and out of love with one another set against Chicago as a backdrop. 436p..
