S. poet, essayist and academic Daniel Hoffman (1923-2013), who was awarded the 2003 Aiken Taylor Award for Modern American Poetry and the 2005 Arthur Rense Poetry Prize "for an exceptional poet" from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He was appointed the twenty-second Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress in 1973.
