About This Item

Paris: Maison Quantin - Compagnie Generale d'Impression et d'Edition, 1888. Hardcover. 109p., profuse b&w reproductions (in a variety of media) plus the promised five color lithos (simple colorwork, not layered) as called for, hardbound in 11x8 inch dark red morocco over marbled green boards, beautifully tooled spine with raised bands, devices and titling gilt, abraded joints, pervasive light foxing within, terminal signature is detached but not damaged, badly broken hinges with casing nearly detached from textblock. Professional attentions would benefit item and its readership, otherwise just be cautious when going through. The V. Hugo singleton is a curiosity, quite a ferocious style; the Daumier are splendid; all inclusions are worthwhile and unusual. As is.
