New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1941. 1st U.S. Edition (Review Copy). Very Good+/Good. Translated from the French by Margaret Ludwig. Contains two novels: "The Sailors' Rendezvous" and "The Saint-Fiacre Affair." First U.S. edition in original jacket with $2.00 price on inside flap in a clear protective sheet. General wear to the jacket with creasing along edges and spine, and chipping in a few places including head and tail of spine; corners trimmed but not affecting price or any words. Black cloth over boards with the profile of the detective smoking a pipe in green on the front and green lettering to the spine. Corners very slightly bumped, some light rubbing to head and tail of spine, otherwise fine. Edges are all clean. "Review Copy Publication Date Aug 7 1941 Price $2.00" stamped on ffep. The interior is very lightly and evening toned with no other found markings or blemishes.
