About This Item

Little sign of wear. Cover is a bit dimmed with age, pages still bright and clean. The Detective Book Club produced volumes of three crime novels from 1942 to 1999. Originally monthly, near the end they dwindled down to just a few per year. Many famous detective and crime novelists had their early works featured in DBC editions. Often, books were published in DBC editions before, or at the same time as they were published in mass market form.
About the authors: The Belgian writer is well known for creating the character Inspector Maigret, who appeared in 75 stories. Simenon also published over 110 stand-alone novels. As a sign of his importance in the literary world, Simenon has been the subject of books written by six other authors. This book is # 20 in the Maigret series. Also known as Carter Wick, Wilcox is best known as the creator of Sam McCloud, which became a television series starring Dennis Weaver. The series ran from 1970 to 1977. He also created three other detective series, with the most prolific being the Frank Hastings series, with 19 novels. Wilcox died in 1996. This book is a stand-alone novel. Recipient of many awards, James created the Adam Dalgliesh detective series of 14 books. During her career, she wrote 8 other books and contributed many other omnibus and collection editions. This book is #6 in the Adam Dalgliesh series.
