Gilt tooled compartments to spine. 290 pp. Eighty-four B&W engraved vignettes in text. Light rubbing to extremities. Ink ownership inscription to flyleaf. Bookplate to front pastedown. Some light foxing to interior commensurate with age. Binding is tight and square. A very nice copy. This volume of Victorian tales is illustrated by the author's son, William Schwenk Gilbert, the famous playwright and librettist who would go on to collaborate with composer Arthur Sullivan on 14 operas.
