About This Item
Dubuque, IA: Kendall/Hunt Publishing Company, 1982. Presumed first edition/first printing. Hardcover. Very good in good dust jacket. Signed by author. Signed on fep. DJ has some wear, soiling, and edge tears.. xii, 493 p. Maps. Illustrations. Notes. Index. The author has produced a fascinating view of Madison, Wisconsin from its orgins to 1920. He stopped at 1920 because by that year Madison had developed readily identifiable modern characteristics. The new capital building had been completed. The city had adapted to the automobile as the dominant mode of transportation. The first skyscrapers had been built. The city park system was well established. Madison was no longer in a formative period.
