This address is, of course, the retail premises and head office of "Berry Brothers and Rudd" the family-run British wine and spirits merchant founded in London in 1698 at 3 St. James's Street. Laid in is an invitation from Madame Prunier to Charles W Berry for a dinner at Chez Prunier on Saturday 8 October 1938 on the occasion of the baptism of her cookbook for which Violet The Lady Melchett, The Honourable Mrs Malcolm Bowes-Lyon and Colonel The Hon. Angus McDonnell kindly agreed to be godmothers and godparents. A cookery classic.
