New York: E.P. Dutton & Company, (1923). First edition. Small octavo. 161, [1] pp. Illustrated. Publisher's yellow cloth, back cover and spine lettering. Top corner of front endpaper excised, a few pages dog-eared and some notes regarding play in pencil on endpapers, else a very clean copy in the publisher's binding.Joseph P. Babcock, a representative of the Standard Oil Company in Shanghai, began importing Mah Jong sets to the United States in great numbers in 1923. This probably led to the publishing of this book, one of the first American book-length guides to the game.
