Doubleday, 1947. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Copy #129 of 1050 numbered copies signed by author. With an origiinal page of Roberts' working manuscript for this title (page 385 of this draft, beginning 'The broad brown river went winding off to our left'), typed with extensive corrections including 38 words in pencil holograph in Roberts' hand, other corrections, etc. Origiinal light gray cloth stamped in gilt, top edge gilt; publisher's slipcase (book is fine; slipcase is largely intact with rubbing, cracks, and old masking tape repairs).
