Tan buckram in glassine jacket and slipcase; top edge gilt; 499pp. A very fresh, Fine copy in original glassine and original publisher's slipcase, lightly rubbed but still Near Fine.
The bound-in leaf is page 520 of the original manuscript, heavily corrected in pencil. Late novel by the best-selling Maine author, an historical romance of the Haitian Revolution. It was adopted for film in 1952; Michael Blankfort contributed to the screenplay and Anne Francis starred in the title role.
