About This Item
Clinton, Iowa: Curtis Companies, 1919 "..Though he is a poet he has but one eccentricity: he is fat. He tried out a large number of eccentricities, because he knew all poets had to have some, but finally decided upon being fat as the one with fewest drawbacks and the least inconvenient." The book has paragraphs of prose rather than poetry, though, mostly focusing on the buisness of lumber. The cover is a vener of grained wood, pretty neat. The book was a promotional Christmas type card sent to customers by Curtis Service Bureau. The cover has been held together with scotch tape which is nearly invisible although I detest the use of scotch tape in any repair of books; this seemed to work well cosmetically and functionally. The nature of the cover dictated that it would eventually crack at the fold.. There are a few very small pieces missing from the veneer cover.
