About This Item
New York: H M Caldwell, 1908 Color pictorial boards with gilt accents, light edge wear, insect damage to inner front hinge, occasional foxing, previous owner's name on verso of frontis. Lullabies for different cultures with musical notation, each paired with an image of a mother and child from that culture, printed in half-tone on alternating color backgrounds. The cultures are depicted from a dated worldview and the "Negro Lullaby" is in black dialect and contains the "N" word and the illustration depicts a "mammy." Scarce.. Pictorial Boards. Very Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Elizabeth Withington. 8vo.
