About This Item
New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1997. Limited Edition. Hardcover. Fine. One of 150 copies, octavo size, 367 pp., signed by Carl Hiaasen. Carl Hiaasen (b. 1953) earned a degree in journalism and went on to become an investigative reporter, writing novels in his spare time. His work centres on his home state of Florida, and he uses macabre plot twists and biting humour to make an important point: that nature is overrun by overpopulation and development. Wildly successful, seventeen of his books have been New York Times Bestsellers and he was awarded the Newbery Medal for his children's book "Hoot".
This volume is a presentation copy to Herb Yellin, the founder of Lord John Press, considered one of the most important small presses publishing modern literature in the latter half of the twentieth century.
___DESCRIPTION: Full turquoise cloth, paste-down of a turtle swimming in water with the image of a man super-imposed on its back on the front board, facsimile of author's signature in yellow below the paste-down, yellow and black lettering on the spine, bright yellow endpapers, volume opens with limitation statement, "Herb Yellin's copy" printed below the statement; Granjohn type, octavo size (9" by 6.25"), pagination: [i-xii] [1-3] 4-353 [354-355], this a presentation copy bound like the 150 limited edition copies (total edition 176).
