First state of the first edition, with 12 color plates printed on paper that is coated only on the printed side and with boldface Reilly & Lee imprint on the spine. Illustrations by John R. Neill. The fifth Oz book by Thompson, the successor to L. Frank Baum as the "Royal Historian of Oz." The book is in about very good condition: clean and tight, with relatively minor cover edgewear and minor rubbing of color on the front pastedown illustration. On of the 12 color plates has significant edgewear limited to the blank margins.. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good-/No Dust Jacket. Illus. by John R. Neill. Small 4to - over 9¾" - 12" Tall. Book.
