Paperback small trade, very good condition, black & white photos, maps, small indentation front cover, minimal edgewear corner tips covers & few pages. 286 pp. In 1911 Hiram Bingham discovered the Inca city that was to make him famous: Machu Picchu, in Peru. In the space of one short season he went on to discover two more lost Inca cities: Vitcos, where one of the last Inca Emperors was assassinated, and another settlement buried deep below the cloud-forest in the jungle. This edition includes Bingham's original photos with a new essay by Hugh Thomson to mark the centenary of the discovery of Machu Picchu. (Centenary Edition with a new introduction by Hugh Thomson.)
