William Heinemann, London, 1902. First Edition. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 751 pages (complete). Of NOTE: a SIGNED letter from LORD MILNER to C J Saywell (a part-time journalist obviously trying his luck with Milner!) is pasted on the front pastedown. The frontispage has Saywell's annotation: "Saywell, Criterion Hotel, Aliwal North, CP, 6.9.'11". A much owned copy. The boards are worn about all edges, corners and seams. The spine is also worn at head and foot and along its length. However, the spine is still fit and efficient. The boards have scuffing, handling and storage marks. The boards are sure and comfortable. The contents have evidence of contented use throughout. The page edges have wear, handling and storage marks. The title page has an open tear at the spine edge. The front pages in particular have handling, usage marks. In general and by far, the pages are clean, clear, contented, certain, diligent, competent, able, very occasionally marked from storage, hand and age, assured. fk.
