Gollancz,, 1960. 8vo., First Edition, with 28 plates on 16 and coloured endpaper maps; handsomely bound in full dark red crushed morocco, sides with gilt frame border, back with raised bands, second and fourth compartments lettered and ruled in gilt, all other compartments tooled in gilt, gilt top, hand-made endpapers, ribbon marker, custom-made-slip-case, an elegant copy ideal as a gift or for presentation. Includes a good bibliography. Compiled from many participants' accounts, this is still the finest one-volume account of D-Day. It is the basis of Ken Annakin's well-known feature film (1962) starring John Wayne, Kenneth More and a host of other stars. SCARCE IN THIS CONDITION. Enser, p.292.
