Montreal: Laocoon Press, 1954. Book. Illus. by Sutherland, Betty. Fine. Hardcover. Signed by Author(s). First Edition. Scarce hardcover edition of poet's sixth collection of poems. Pea-green cloth boards with label affixed to spine in white jacket with red line-drawing by Betty Sutherland, Layton's then wife. Illustration of Layton by Sutherland facing title-page. A fine copy in dustjacket that has one-inch chip at head of spine, several short closed tears, and darkening to spine. Twice inscribed by author to the late Montreal poet, Avi Boxer. The first inscription reads, "For Avi, With warmest regards. Irving Layton;" the second reads "Jan. 8/55 / One of us stinking drunk. Guess who?".
