New York: Harcourt Brace and Company, 1948. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Hardcover in black cloth boards with title in lightly worn gilt on spine. No dust jacket, but front jacket flap has been affixed to front pastedown page. First printing of first edition. Overall condition is very good. Stamped on copyright page is "Property of U.S. Army," and on title page "Library Service Club No. 1, Camp Stoneman, Calif." Circulation card is glued to the final free endpage. Written in pencil on title page is Taylor's middle name, Hillsman. Clean crisp, and solidly bound. Short stories are what Taylor is lauded for, and this is his first book of short stories. Small 8vo. 166 pp.
