Boston & New York: Houghton Mifflin Co.,, 1928. First edition, first printing. The book was originally published in 1901 with illustrations by E. Pollack; the Rackham illustrated version was only published in the US. This is a beautiful example of the title in the rare dust jacket. Octavo. Original buff cloth, titles to spine black and to front cover black and red, vignette blocked to front board in black and red. With dust jacket. Housed in a folding box. Colour frontispiece, decorated title page and 2 full page illustrations printed in red and green ink, black and white vignettes to text, by Rackham. In the lightly toned dust jacket with just a touch of wear with short tears and shallow chips to the extremities. An excellent copy. Latimore and Haskell p. 63; Riall, p. 163.
