Many of Frank Gruber's works have similar scenarios, and this one is no different in that he uses the two identities for the same man. In some parts of the West, Tom Fargo was known as a gunfighter, a killer for hire...But in Lobo Valley, his home, he was just Tom Weber. A man who lived pretty much to himself, a man who had come home after years of roaming. A big range war was about to erupt and his ranch was in the center of the conflicting land. And even when he couldn't be bought off or drove off, Tom still didn't fight back. It was only when they threatened the woman he loved did he know he must once again strap on his guns and fight. Frank Gruber novels are well worth the time and effort to read, as he is historical in his presentation, and this is light and easy reading.
