London: Caliban, 1989. VG/VG. First edition in d/w not price clipped. SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR, on title-page without dedication. Illustrated with photographs. The Second World War memoirs of 'Jan' Maslany: born in Poland in 1924. He was taken prisoner by the Russians in 1939 and survived the horrors of a Russian prisoner of war camp. Subsequently he was captured by the Germans when they invaded Russia and was 'recruited' into the Tod Labour organisation (forced labour). He escaped and joined the Italian partisans; eventually becoming a partisan group leader. Eventually, Jan was recuited into the intelligence branch of the Polish Free Army and seconded to Allied Intelligence: posing as a German officer he went on intelligence and assassination missions. Minor lean to spine; d/w spine has minor sunning; else a very good copy, in a very good d/w, of a SCARCE first edition SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR.. Signed by Author. First Edition. Hardback. Very Good/Very Good.
