Gold is worn on the 8 1/2" X 5 3/4" HC. Corners and edges of spine are rubbed and bend under. Has several stains plus a 1" paint stain at foredge back cover. Illus. of U.S. Grant has a 1" closed tear. Hinge is cracked back side with the paper torn and starting to tear at front.

Hinges sturdy with no splitting. Unmarked front to back. Internals lightly toned. Dust jacket with light creasing to extremities, small tears to front and back panel and small area of loss to tail of spine panel. A presentable copy of an early Stratemeyer publication.
