About This Item
London: T. Fisher Unwin, 1897.. First edition, third issue. 8vo. (vi), 242, (6) pp. Publisher's green cloth, gilt lettered to the spine and upper board, the latter also featuring a gilt line illustration, plus black lettering to the lower cover. Recently neatly recased, endpapers browned, very good. Stott, A1a. The success of the first issue led the publishers to draw upon copies of the more or less identical second "Colonial" issue. This third issue uses the same sheets as the first issue bar the half title and title (here printed in black only) and uses the same binding design. The crucial difference is that the phrase "Colonial Edition" has been blacked out on the recto of the title page.
