First edition of this anthology of famed Yorkshire personalities, including Lord Thomas Fairfax (1612-1671), general and parliamentary commander-in-chief during the English Civil War; James Stanley, Earl of Derby (1607-1651), Royalist supporter during the English Civil War; Andrew Marvell (1621-1678), Poet & Parliamentarian; Dr. Richard Bentley (1662-1742), noted Classicist and theologian; Lady Anne Clifford (1590-1676), famed patron of authors & literature, and important diarist of the period, and many others.
