About This Item

Simon and Schuster, New York, 1943. First Edition. Hardcover (Printed Boards). Near Fine Condition/Near Fine. Illustrator: Gustaf Tenggren. Book This is #15 of the first 16 Little Golden Books, released in April 1943, with a blue paper spine, dust jacket and 42 pages (later printings were reduced to 28 pages). It is in excellent condition, having been carefully stored and protected by a collector. Size: Small Octavo (7 1/2-8"). 42 pages. Item Type: Book. The inside of the front cover is clean without any PON. The only marking is a previous bookseller's stock number and price in pencil at the top outside corner of the half-title page. The illustrated boards are in Near Fine condition with the only defect a small hole in the blue paper of the spine, exposing part of the top staple, which has rusted. The unclipped (25 cents) dust jacket is almost flawless with the slightest bit of wear to the head of the spine. It has been protected in a clear sleeve for some time, maintaining its pristine condition. All edges are in excellent condition, colored in a yellowish-orange. Illustrator: Gustaf Tenggren. Quantity Available: 1. Category: Children; United States; 1940s; Pictures of this item not already displayed here available upon request. Inventory No: 1376. .
