New York: Howard Mission, 1870. Magazine. 5 volumes, wraps. 7.75 x 5 in. Minor edge wear and chipping to covers, else Very Good. Five issues (four of which are consecutive) of a journal on homeless and needy children. The Howard Mission charged itself with the moral instruction and religious conversion of youth in New York city. Some articles encourage parents to give up their children in order to ensure a life in the country free from vice. Other content includes updates on needs of the mission (clothes, money, teachers), details on living and working conditions, information on adoption, education, poetry and song, music, expense reports, and advertisements.
