About This Item

London: T. Werner Laurie, 1948. Hardcover. 282p., fourth impression of the British edition, 5.25x7.5 inches; lacking dustjacket, corners lightly bumped, spine lightly toned, slight soil on boards, else very good. "A detailed report of legal and extralegal methods used to destroy unions in the steel industry..... The plot of the novel is ridiculous and both the steel and the cotton strikes [a Georgia mill] are only dimly pictured, but Sinclair's excellent research into labor-spying techniques and his vigorous journalistic style save the novel from complete banality." *Blake p. 266.
