Black cloth with spine stamped in gold and color pictorial label affixed to the front. Color pictorial endpapers; 10 color plates plus color plate title page. Spine ends and corners a bit worn, edges less so, edge of label slightly rubbed, evidence of some erasure from blank area beneath title on label, endpapers a tad discolored at hinge due to binding glue, sheets a touch aged, else an internally clean, tight copy with plates still clean and bright.
First Wyeth-illustrated edition. A fascinating story of a young Kentucky boy who finds himself at odds with those around him when he joins the Union Army to fight in the American Civil War. Wyeth's gorgeous watercolor illustrations magnificently capture this powerful story.
