New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1890 First American Edition with1890 printed on title page. A Good copy- lightly marked (gift inscription pasted to first blank page, penciled name and rubber stamped date to blank side of rear free endpaper) with scattered finger markings, soiling and spottings to pages. Text overall very good. Bound in gray cloth hardcover with decorative stamping in red, gilt and black on front and spine. The cover is moderately soiled, edges heavily rubbed with board showing at corners, spine ends frayed. Spine stamping has faded. Binding is tender, the brown printed endpapers still intact but hinges wobbly; one split between gatherings, though no pages have separated. Illustrated by Reginald Birch, with 12 full page B&W plates, including tissue protected frontis. 6-1/2 x 8-1/2"; 146 pages plus 16 pages of publisher ads at end.. First American Edition. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Birch, Reginald.
