Simply known as de Saint-Exupery,[b. 29/6/1900 – d. 31/7/1944],he was a French writer, poet, aristocrat, journalist and pioneering aviator. He is best-known for his novella 'Le Petit Prince' (The Little Prince) and also for his lyrical aviation writings, which included 'Wind,Sand and Stars' and 'Night Flight'.
'The Little Prince' became the author's most successful work, selling an estimated 140 million copies worldwide, which in turn, makes it one of both the best-selling and most translated books ever. It has been adapted to numerous art forms and media, including audio recordings, radio plays, live stage, film, television, ballet, and opera.
A pilot stranded in the desert awakes one morning to see, standing before him,the most extraordinary little fellow.
Thus you can imagine my amazement,at sunrise, when I was awakened by an odd little voice. It said: "If you please - draw me a sheep!" [This book's/edition's opening line.]
And the pilot realizes that when life's events are too difficult to understand, there is no choice but to succumb to their mysteries. He pulls out pencil and paper . .
Thus begins this wise and enchanting fable that,in teaching the secret of what is really important in life, has changed the world forever for its readers.Often seen as a symbol of childhood innocence,Antoine de Saint-Exupery's best-selling book 'The Little Prince.' is as cherished by children and adults alike, across the globe.Ideal for children aged 7 and up.
"It would have been better to come back at the same hour," said the fox."If,for example, you came at four o'clock in the afternoon, then at three o'clock I shall begin to be happy. . ." [Book's closing line.]
