The first edition.In the original unclipped dust wrapper.A lesser-known work by Graham Greene, a entertaining children's novel following the adventures of a small fire engine.Greene published three other children's works during his career, 'The Little Train', 'The Little Horse Bus', and 'The Little Steamroller'.Illustrated in colour throughout by Dorothy Craigie.Greene and Craigie had an affair after meeting in 1939, living together until 1948. In the original publisher's paper covered boards, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart. A few light marks to the boards. Light rubbing and bumping to the head and tail of the spine, with a bump to the spine resulting in a small amount of loss. Light edge wear to the dust wrapper, heavier to the spine, with a small closed tear to the tail of the front wrap. Marks to the wraps, heavier to the rear wrap. Light spots to the reverse of the dust wrapper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
