Granville Hicks was a noted 20th century author. He was famous for his early embrace of communism, later disillusionment and anti-Marxist views. Hicks was a professor at Smith College, Harvard, New School for Social Research, as well as many of universities. Hicks was the literary advisor to Macmillan Publishers for 35 years (1930-1965).
