About This Item
Ottawa: National Gallery of Canada, 1990. Softcover. G (shelf wear, binding is coming unglued in the back, otherwise all pages clear and intact). Green wraps with black lettering and illustration, 362 pp, bw illustrations throughout. "Lisette Model was an extraordinary photographer, bold and compassionate. Utterly convinced of the power of images, she was also one of the truly outstanding teachers of photography in the twentieth century, numbering among her students photographers Diane Arbus and Rosalind Solomon, and influencing such peers as Minor White. Through this restrospective, the National Gallery acknowledges the importance of her great contribution to photography in this century: too often her oeuvre has been dismissed as too small, or as created in too contracted a period of time to warrent the dedicated attention it deserves. I believe the exhibition and this catalogue will right that balance." - Dr. Shirley L. Thomson in Foreword.
