Another collaborative effort by the magnificent author/artist team who created the enchanting "Tiger Flower, King of the Grass." This is an equally magical tale, an allegory of love between a lion & a Brazilian butterfly named Blue. Unpaginated, lavishly illustrated throughout, with a Preface by the Prince of the Netherlands. A FIRST EDITION, First Printing, from 1974, this hardcover quarto (8.5" x 11.25") has light blue paper over boards with a one-eighth red cloth-wrapped spine, lettered in crisp black. Condition: Near Fine: extremely clean, binding strong & straight, hinges secure, pages slightly off-white with a hint of tanning, colors bright. Mild fading & rubbing to extremities. The unclipped DJ (with orig. $6.95 price intact) is Good+/VG- (minus), with heavier rubbing, tiny holes & stains, larger chip to head of spine & top edge of back cover. But the colors are bright, images crisp and clean' nicely protected in new clear mylar cover free!
