About This Item
Ex-library book in acceptable condition. Book has card holder, stamps, stickers, markings and writing. Image of actual book: No DJ. Pages clean. Binding tight. Boards with slight wearing, rubbing and smudging. Slight bumping on corners and edges. Tape residue and smudging on tail. Slight fading on the top edge. Outer page edges with some tanning, browning, stains and foxing. Story of the early years of the Settlement and of the personal involvement of Lillian Wald in the social reform activities of the Settlement and the Progressive movements. A very fascinating look at what life was like for hundreds of immigrants in the late 1800s. I had no idea that Lillian Wald was the one who started getting nurses in schools, or pushed for playgrounds for children, started the Public Health Nurses, or many other things. 1960. T4.
